Bohemia Interactive Studios have posted a press release detailing the features of the sequel to their million-selling tactical combat simulator, Operation Flashpoint. This is the first official information about the game since its development was announced last year.

" Brought to you by the creators of Operation Flashpoint: offering large-scale game worlds, authentic and extremely detailed modern units, weapons, vehicles and environments, challenging objectives and the most realistic single and multi player computer combat experience to date. The complete simulation package will come with a comprehensive set of tools for the creation of custom content."

I think you'll agree; the screenshots are pretty amazing. I'm a huge fan of the original, so I'll be keeping a very close eye on this one.

Sixty years ago in 1945, the unconditional surrender of the German army was signed in General Dwight Eisenhower's headquarters at Reims on May 7 and ratified at Berlin on Tuesday, May 8.

I think King George said it best:

"Let us remember those who will not come back: their constancy and courage in battle, their sacrifice and endurance in the face of a merciless enemy; let us remember the men in all the services, and the women in all the services, who have laid down their lives. We have come to the end of our tribulation and they are not with us at the moment of our rejoicing."

--King George VI -  May 8, 1945
